In the beginning...
"When you engage in a wrestling match you are participating in something that binds civilisation together…it goes back 4000 or 5000 years." Mike Chapman, International Wrestling Institute & Museum. Throughout the development of mankind, wrestling has played a significant role in the world's cultures. It is a little known fact that a style, which developed in the North West of England, is the bedrock of the modern sport. That style is catch-as-catch-can, or CATCH, Originating in the mining towns of Lancashire, it is also known as submission wrestling and is the basis of today's freestyle school. As the name implies, in CATCH you do everything you can to catch or defeat your opponent. It is 'all in' fighting, one-on-one, until your opponent submits.
