Profiles: Paul Stridgeon
Having placed sixth in Europe in 2002 and having competed for Great Britain in the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Paul Stridgeon is recognised as one of the UK’s top amateurs of recent years. Paul trained in freestyle wrestling, the descendant of Catch, at Riley’s gym in Wigan, under the tutelage of Roy Wood. Having been unimpressed with a karate class he went to, his grandfather, familiar with Riley’s, advised him to give wrestling a go. Paul took to the sport straight away. Having completed University in 2003, Paul has had to put his tournament
ambitions on hold due to a lack of support for amateurs in the UK. He
is currently a physical instructor with the London Broncos Rugby League
team. |
